Audio Description

Audio description enhances the live theatre or film experience for people who are blind or have low vision. An audio describer uses a small transmitter to describe what is happening in a performance. People using this service use a personal listening device enabling them to sit in most parts of any theatre and fully participate in the performance. Check the ‘Accessibility’ section of each event page for dates of audio described performances.

Visual Ratings

If you are Deaf or hard of hearing, or if English isn’t your primary spoken language, this three-tiered rating system will help you decide if an event is suitable for you.
 – 100: these events contain no music or dialogue
 – 75: these events may be fully subtitled or have minimal dialogue, and have some background music or sounds
– 50: these events have background music or sounds, or may be partly subtitled
Check the ‘Accessibility’ section of each event page for ratings.

Wheelchair Access
Arts House venues are wheelchair accessible. However, because of the unusual presentation of some of the shows, certain performances may be restricted. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements. Wheelchair accessibility is also listed on each event page.

Companion Card
Arts House supports the Companion Card program. For patrons who require assistance of a companion or carer, a second ticket is issued at no cost to the Companion Card holder. To book a Companion ticket, call our box office on (03) 9322 3720.
