Threading Frames is the collective of co-directors Joshua Faleatua and Tyler Carney-Faleatua, working across dance, theatre, film, and storytelling. Their practice is grounded in an exploration of the human condition, creating immersive worlds where dance can exist beyond conventional rules of time and space.

They are the recipients of the Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Springboard Award (2024) and have presented their work at festivals and venues such as Dancehouse, CINEDANS FEST, Auckland Arts Festival, Pacific Dance Festival, Melbourne Cineverse Film Festival and Schrit_tmacher Festival.

We are curious about the continual negotiation of who we are and who we are becoming, and how our thoughts, memories, desires, fears, relationships and environments shape and reveal different facets of our identity. Our practice is deeply relational, shaped by the people in the room, the conversations we share and the trust that develops throughout the creative process.

Inspired by filmmakers and playwrights such as Ingmar Bergman and Samuel Beckett, we are drawn to creating worlds that exist somewhere between reality and imagination and where movement can reveal inner emotional landscapes.

‘Walk With Me - The Final Rest’ grew from the tension between our desire to arrive and the reality that we are constantly changing. The work reflects on what it means to search for fulfilment when the journey itself transforms us, inviting audiences to recognise aspects of their own experiences within the work.
