Leading artists Robin Fox, Hanna Chetwin, Jannah Quill and Kusum Normoyle explore the interface between sound and light in a special two-night season of performances featuring works never seen before in Melbourne alongside new commissions.

Single Origin is the third in Robin Fox’s series of works for laser and sound that explore the possibilities of mechanically-induced synaesthesia: a joining of senses where light may be heard and sound may be seen. After touring across the world, this concerto for a laser beam is finally seen in his home town of Melbourne for two nights only.

On Wednesday 17 April Hanna Chetwin presents two works, Salt and Opaquing, exploring the textural and rhythm possibilities of expanded 16mm films. On Thursday 18 April, SIGHT by Jannah Quill is the first major culmination of her ongoing experimentation with solar panel as an instrument. See it come to life with lighting design from House of Vnholy. Both line-ups are completed with Kusum Normoyle’s energising full scream interventions.

Spectral: between light and sound is part of the week-long Spectral season.

Exhibitions by Meagan Streader and Robin Fox take you into another world throughout the Spectral week. Streader’s Echoes is a series of site-specific sculptural installations using lasers, fluorescence and neon to reimagine space through illumination. In Fox’s Quadra four high-powered lasers articulate and distort space through a helix of bounce mirrors.
