Stampede the Stampede is a ‘nolo’ – not a solo. Created with phenomenal artistic collaborators Madeleine Flynn, Tim Humphrey, Jen Hector and Bosco Shaw, Tim Darbyshire’s new work features Darbyshire performing not alone, but within a relentless ‘choreographic mechanism’.

Stampede the Stampede expands choreography beyond the performer’s lone presence, to include machinery, objects, lighting and sound configurations that affect and are affected by Darbyshire’s moving, sounding body. Suspended within this system, the body delves into turbulent and controlled dynamics of thrashing, eruption, struggle and crumbling stillness.

Stampede the Stampede is a raging installation, created by one of Australia’s most intriguing choreographers.

“… extends and suspends our sense of time with dexterously slow movement, contortion and balance, finely tuned lighting and subtle performer-driven soundscapes.”
